about

Mindfulness by Peter D. Firth
Peter D. Firth has been coming up with tunes for the piano, since he could bash away on the family upright from a young age. Further realising the rock ‘n’ roll potential after seeing an old film of Jerry Lee Lewis on TV and later at the cinema watching Richard Wright playing the piano with his elbow in Pink Floyd’s ‘Live from Pompeii’.

He has always had something on the go involving keyboards: Prog rock bands at school and college; composing and playing music for a community theatre company in the early 80’s; a ‘poodle rock’ band playing venues in and around Bolton most weeks in the late 80’s; , playing some of the livelier hymns or improvising for mediations at Methodist’s church services or at YMCA North West regional events in the 90’s; accompanying Christmas concerts at the community centre in Bury that he managed for 16 years from 1999; for the last few years humping his keyboard to open mikes in Prestwich and Bolton which includes trailing some of his own keyboard compositions accumulating in performances at the Bolton’s Cultural Cabaret which he developed and presents on behalf of the Life from Worktown organisation.

The pandemic lockdown of 2020 inspired him to compose and recorded 100 relaxing piano pieces during the first 100 days of lockdown. This is where this album comes in. It collates the best 18 of these pieces, mixed and mastered by friend, professional musician & composer John Maycraft, who he thanks for the encouragement. So, for whatever reason you need to relax this is for you … enjoy!
